Barn 4
Welcome to Country View LlamasCountry View Llamas was established in September, 2003, in Ghent, Kentucky, by John and Marvel Maddy, with the desire to raise a FEW quality, lovable llamas. Our original stock was provided to us by Eagle Dancer Ridge Chilean Llamas, East Peoria, Illinois.

In mid 2003, we told friends and family that we are going to buy a few llamas. Of course, the question has been asked of us many times, "Why do you want llamas?" The answer is simple. Being around livestock for years, we have never found a more friendly, lovable, interesting creature than the llama. Each llama has it's own SPECIAL quality and personality. Oh by the way, our llamas DON'T spit at us!

Since the beginning, we have purchased llamas from Eagle Dancer Ridge Chilean Llamas in Illinois, Yellow Wood Llamas in Indiana, Walnut Hill Farm in Georgia, Pleasure Valley Llamas in Wisconsin, ME Llama Farm in Connecticut, Needmor Acres in Ohio, Pacific Llamas in Missouri, Moutain View Llamas in Virginia, Mark Smith Farms in Indiana and Rose Cottage Llamas in Indiana. All of these llama farms have helped us add quality and knowledge to our llama business. Our goal is to raise quality, lovable, show and breeding llamas. Pictured at the right is Maestro's Cadenza, an offspring of the infamous Maestro's Conductor.

Gee, it must have been a hot day. All the llamas were in the barn.

Who would have ever guessed in 2003 that we would have taken this from a hobby to a business? In 2003, we were only going to have THREE llamas on our few acres. By January, 2007, we had grown to 10.5 acres, 4 barns, and 25 llamas. In January, 2007, John received the Honor of being elected President of the Kentucky Llama and Alpaca Association and re-elected in 2008. We are actively showing our (non-human) KIDS at Llama Shows in Ohio, Indiana and Kentucky. Llamas truly are contagious animals!
